i was at the creek yesterday gathering minnows because there all trapped due to the hot temps and no rain and i seen about 8 brook trout and what i thought were a few rainbows as well cruising that hole which was only 2 foot deep and about 80 degrees. i walked through the entire hole looking for cold spots but there were not any. id like to know how those trout are living? anyone ever see trout survive in those temps?

i think its just a matter of time.....im guessing extreme oxygenation of the water is keeping them going for now...

Did you actually measure the temp with a thermometer or is 80* just a guess? Fish can live outside of their normal temp range for short periods, but trout generally do very poor above even 70*. There could also be a spring somewhere nearby.

no not big enough to eat. they seemed to be very quick and not sluggish. it was 95 here yesterday and 92 tomorrow and the next. hopefully we will get some rain pretty soon and let those little buggers head toward the lake.

the stream must be very well oxygenated
