Hi I am planing on getting a 2-3 inch warmouth the only tank I have setup is a 10g for how long can he stay in there for. Also how long could he stay in there for before long term health problems came into effect

You would preferably not want to keep him in there until there is any risk of long-term health problems. I have no experience with the species so I am not sure about the growth rate but a 2-3 inch fish should be ok for a couple of months.

So around 4-6 months
I'm not sure, a couple of months is just my educated guess. I know next to nothing about the species or their growth rate, I'll let somebody with more experience chime in.

Hi Bradyfam Bradyfam ,
It will last maybe a couple of months. That tank is way to small for a Warmouth. They get 10" - 12"+. I hope you have an option to upgrade the tank soon. baker-woodward-warmouth.jpg

One that size would be really impressive in an aquarium!

Yes I know they get quite large I just needed to know if they would be good for 2-3 months in a 10g

How much will you enjoy the fish in a 10 gallon? How much will it actually act like as warmouth and be a warmouth in a 10? If you just don’t want it to die- rock n roll, make sure you get a bottle of declorinsror and a pitcher or else a hose to siphon with. You’ll want to change some the water as it gets cloudy.

It’s always tough to answer a “minimum standard of care” question you can keep a fish wherever you want as long as you can. I think that the people asking minimum standard of care questions typically aren’t confident in there ability to provide anything else- which I guess points towards

Not for very long?
