under a bridge in fl
few days ago i had a few fish die in my pond.
i was getting them out when i noticed one was still a little alive.
he was so close to death tho.it was a warmouth. didnt even know i had it.lol
so i put him in a small net and had the net hold him up the right way,and at the top of the water.
left him like that, came back a few hours later.
he jumped out of the net and was swimming around.
i was like :WHOA:
so i moved him inside, aclimated"or whatever it is"him good.
he is swimming good,looks ok.
but his belly is way sunk in.
i have tried brine shrimp, bloodworms, guppys, ghost shrimp, chunk of live nightcrawler.
and he just will not eat.
anyone have any ideas?
thanks.

I would recommend keeping your water as clean as you can, I would do a bunch of small water changes several times a week, and also I would keep the tank dark to reduce stress.
If the fish has a shrunken stomach it could have so type of parasite, and my be on its way out, and you will not be able to save it.

the key to this in my opinion is excellent water quality
and not inducing any undue stress.

I may put some ghost shrimp or a few quarantined feeders in the tank and leave him alone

When he starts to eat as soon as you add a feeder, then I would return to your normal tank schedule and try to move it to pellet food (with live food 2 times a week or so)

Warmouth generally do very well in larger tanks

I had 3 sunfish for 4 years and never saw them eat, or even come to the surface.

what type?

if i even look at any of my tanks, my sunnies shoot to the top waiting for the food they just know i will be throwing in. what type of sunnies did you have

greens are mainly fish eaters, but even they learn to eat floating pellets

How small is it? Are there any other fish in the tank? I have one that is about 2 inches in a tank with a few other small fish and I see it eat at feeding time. I had a small warmouth in a tank with other large sunfish and I never saw it eat.
