This is just a warning post about a LFS called global aquatics in corona, ca. I went there couple months ago, naught a flowerhorn and found out it had hex. Treated it myself instead of taking him
Back. The owner gave me half back but I wasn't happy with the service. Now I decided to go back yesterday to just check it out with the gf and decided to buy some other fish. I bought two red terrors and just the way the guy scooped them up was soooo rough on the fish and the packaging was horrible. They threw the fish around pretty much. I brought the red terror and other fish I go home. Noticed right away that my red terrors weren't doing so well and also that their fins where badly badly damaged. I could tell kinda on one before buying but he seemed fine in their tank till I got him home.

Basically be careful buying fish from this store. I haven't had good luck at all.

Anyone that knows how to cure the fin damage please advise me how. Thank you.

If it's just a little frayed you can add salt and bump the heat up a bit, it will grow back quickly on its own.

Yeah, there is no real cure for damage you just have to keep the water clean and let the fins heal and regenerate on their own. Were the fish packed in the same bag?

Yes the fish was packed in the same bag. I had two of them maybe about 2" and a buterkofly or however it's spelt in the same bag that was about 3-4". They also packed two red devil mix together lol I almost told the guy to redo it and separate them. But didn't and luckily they are okay.

Okay so there is no medication I can give them? I have them in a 10 gallon to heal up but they aren't swimming a lot and staying on the bottom. I see their little gills moving tho so they are alive.

Not moving can be a sign of acclimation, if purchased today this isn't odd at all. Medication is mostly unnecessary in this situation just watch for signs of infection. Salt will naturally promote an environment that makes it difficult for more infections to take hold and fish will naturally heal fin damage quite quickly. If the damage is extreme and down to the base of the fish it could become permanent but that is not observed frequently so chances are everything will be okay. That said, festae are not terribly friendly to other fish, including other festae so they may end up damaging eachother more when they are comfortable.

Lol, yep it's gonna be on like Donkey Kong.
Haha yes it is and I'm not sure why the guy bagged those fish together but I would have requested that they be bagged separately..
