I purchased several used EA games recently from a garage sale...

Got them home installed them, went to play them and they all required me to register the serial number (As expected) only it goes on line to verify the serial number and will not allow you to play the game without registering an account with them on line.

So, I created a new account, and went to play and it tells me the serial number is already registered to another account and that I am unable to play the game (Even just the local game, not on line).

I call tec-support and they want me to purchase another license to play it.

So, I purchased used games that are worthless. Thanks EA!

I will never purchase an EA game again (Used or New).

If it is for a computer you can't really blame the MFG. As as software person I can understand where they are coming from. The person that sold it to you could have (and most do) made a copy of the game. So now both of you are playing and they only sold one game. This is why I just don't buy used computer games at all. I haven't run into this problem with console games, but EA is not the only ones who do this for computer games. It's the problem that occurs when production cost are much much lower than development cost.

Hopefully the fellow you bought these games from was'nt aware that you would have to purchase another license in order to play them and he was'nt just trying to dump them and get over on you.

i assume this is a pc game. i was wanting to sell some of my old pc games so i decided to trade them in but stores dont take pre-owned pc games because of this reason and now some games can have the serial banned, steam accounts for example. the guy in the store said that pc gamers get a raw deal because they cant trade in pc games like console gamers do and that the games companies have screwed the very gamers who made them what they are today.

Plenty of places to get around this. But if the guy was/is straight up you could have gotten his account name and password
and played off of his registration.

Complains on and on about people who sell their fish after too short a time.
