Those are the offspring of the first lightning maroon clownfish ever bred in captivity. The breeder had the original for 3 years and kept a log of his progress the entire time.

His deal with blue zoo aquatics was that they would get some of the babies so they decided to let the public decide on the price by putting them on eBay. I agree though, the amount people are bidding on is freakin crazy, but hey, first of its kind.

gotta be a sharpie trying to make a buck off the uninformed ...that would't be news however a $6,ooo clownfish that would be:popcorn:

I suppose those people bidding on them are looking to breed them in hopes of producing there own Lightning Clowns they can make lots of money from them. Be interesting to see down the road what patterns will start being produced from these few fish.

Some of them might, some might not. I know the first few that came in a few years back were bought by private collectors that just wanted rare fish in their collections. If you think $6000 is crazy, check out the prices of clarion angels and peppermint angels! Those are rediculous!!!

I'll stick with an Emperator or a Majestic Angel.

I always thought koi was the champion when it came to fish prices.

They are. Apparently (take with a pinch of salt) they can go for over half a million dollars on auctions. The most expensive I've seen where the price was actuallly declared qas 30,000 Euros (36,000$)... Mental.
