i've heard that gators can't resist Silver fishes... and my once perfect scaled silver arowana had a wound towards it's end side... could it be the gator? just a thought tho... i'm waiting for xmas to get my new tanks and as of now the tank where the gator is and the aro is is also inhabited by a Mono Pbass, a Giant gourami an RTC and an ABAABA... The gator is the biggest followed by my aba and my Aro. RTC;s the fattest...

the pbass gets agressive at times... but he only picks on the Giant gourami...it could also be the aba aba.. but he only killed feeders and my china hi fin... i'm thinking the aro is way too big for him to touch.... that leaves me with just the gator... was it the gator? what dya think?

I think it was the gator.. since gator gars are the most aggressive gar species and would attack a fish even as big as themselves..

hard to say, could be the gator, but realize that that is not a very good assemblage of fishes in terms of tankmate compatibility...aba-aba are very aggressive and have been known to shred anything, giant gouramis are also mean fishes, gator gars it's pretty clear with...and then of course RTC's will go after just about anything if they are hungry. i'd separate just about all those fishes because no matter what that entire combo is asking for trouble--

what do you feed them? i ask because i recently transitioned my tank off of live and onto frozen meaty foods and there has been a bit of a rise in aggression....right after the feeders stopped my small silver had a good size nip taken out of his fin in the perfect shape of the mouth of my much larger spotted gar..they are ok now but the aro seeks refuge in the floating plants on occasion; keep in mind that im talking about a spotted, much more docile than a gator.
Also, i gotta agree with americanus, definately not a great matchup in terms of aggresiveness and size. RTC isnt gonna be able to eat the gator provided hes large enough so thats a safe bet, and hopefully he cant suck up the pbass so you might have a decent match there provided you have a giant freaken tank. Remember silver aros arent aggressive, they just get big and eat whats convenient, vs the other species described. The aba knife will demand huge quarters and will torture and kill things for fun when it matures.

yeah, sorry for the ill adviced combo, had them for quite a while, i figured, i'd get my new tanks b4 they get this aggressive. coz from what i've read, aba abas get nasty once theyr huge.. gators too... anyway, imma get new tanks and fix my pond during the christmas vacation so no need to worry for now...=/ just a few more days!!!!!!! i hope they do hold up...:( oh btw, i also keep a Royal in that already weird combo... he also had a few scratches.... sadly.

they started out ranging from 2-3 inches and my gator is already roughly pushing 12 from my estimate... he grows the fastest.. actually i was surprised that he even outgrew my RTC... RTC is gettin really big tho... the GG and Royal are at a steady pace and so is the ARO... the Aba aba grows quick too btw.....

The GG is on Pellets. The others are on Beef's heart, Bloodworms, Shrimp and live feeders... mollies, guppies to carps... i think it must've been the protien that gets em insanely Big... i've only had them for 3 months and the pictures from before are looking like frys from their pics now.... @_@ mannn.... i didn't expect them to grow this fast....

water changes are also more constant now. they produce lotsa waste... more filtration too.

i think theyr starting to crowd tank too... demmit!

yea its definately either the gator or the aba. the gator probly nipped at the silver, the aba is probably beating up the royal. IMO royals share a similar temperment with silver aros, not overly aggressive and fairly easily pushed around when young.
You can keep the royal and the aro together, the RTC will eventually suck up a royal of even the same size. Good luck on setting up the new tanks, once you get that aba aba alone keep him fierce!

the gator gar is most likely but it could be the aba aba

not a good tank combination....silver aro easily got stress....i trade off my 20'' silver cheaply with 2'' pbass temensis b'cos he acted like pussy when i introduced him to tank like yours, a fish got stress has detrimental effect to the tank harmony, at least for me....

i guess it was the RTC.......my pima got a little scratch b'cos of him....

GG the fastest growing fish i ever keep.......

man, dont give him pellets, it ruins the fun, mine eats fish, frog even little mouse.....

man, dont give him pellets, it's not fun at all....

this is crazy... i'm gettin the new tank tom... but i found my aba with a few scratches today... i don't see how the rtc can damage him without eating em whole=/ are they really capable of doin that? now the only undamaged fish is the RTC.... even the gator has its tail torn (just a little bit...very small... but still)

if this is too stressful for me, then what more for them fishes.... good thing im gettin the new tanks tom... oh well, it was me who decided to put them together... i'm owning up.

anyway, could it be also the pbass? hes the one displaying agression... its just that i dont think he's that big to do that much damage to the other bigger fishes... and, could it also be that they're taking shots at one another?

IT'S ANARCHY!!!! ARE THEY RIOTING?!?!?!?!?! IT'S CRAZZZZZYYY!!!! GOOD THING I DONT HAVE A SNAKEHEAD IN THERE!!!!
