I went into LFS today to pick up a few pleco's for my 75, and saw some Leporinus fasciatus the girl I was talking to got REALLY snotty and told me that if I got one it would kill my 10" pangasius cat, so I thought I would get some opinions. I really didn't like this sales girl's snotty attitude and won't be visiting the store again because of it.

leporinus do get aggressive with maturity but I'd imagine a pangasius could hold its own.

Mine got aggressive around the 6-8 inch mark but nothing that severums and silver dollars couldn't handle. Don't think a 10 inch pangassius would have problems.

Ok well this sales girl INSISTED it would EAT my catfish From looking at them, they just looked like nasty nippers to me. I really wan't planning on taking one home today or anything, just asking about them anyway and she got all high and mighty on me and wouldn't let me get a word in edgewise! I seriously thought she wasn't going to sell me the two plecos after that!

I've had this type of thing happen, Since I'm a BIG Cat freak I always get the guy that thinks he knows more about their sizes than I do... Like the one guy that sold me a TSN that said they get HUGE like 20" I was telling him your kidding right... try 60"!!!! then had the nerve to tell me to look them up and I was wrong that they don't get THAT big when he asked what size tank I was putting it in... and I told him a 5000 gallon... I think I heard his jaw snap when it bounced off the floor

lol! how big and how much was the leporinus. it is true that they can get aggressive. but to kill a 10inch shark? :screwy:unless the leporinus have a superelectromahbetic eyesight then i guess he can.

she just probably wants the lepo herself thats y she dont wanna sell.
if i were u, go back and buy it just to piss her off.

 it'll make better than 48"... i've got 7 chances at having it happen so..... i like my chances  and my 16' tank should be a good start for making it happen :headbang2

there were about 10 of them in a tiny tank they were about 5-6" As I said before I wasn't planning on actually bringing one home right then and there, her attitude just ticked me off!

It was sad though because there were 2 larger ones and they were really picking on the smaller ones and the tank was only about 10 gallons.

Oh and they were something like 5.99 each lol

Mr. Bass, any pics of the 5K?
