so i got a new fish from a place other than were i work. and i out it in my hospital tank to start with. he looks healthy and dose not show any signs of problems. but how long should i wait and see? few day? few weeks?

or is there a way to "wash" the fish like i do plants when i buy them?

thx

quarantine in hospital tank for about 6 weeks.. do not use same nets or gravel vac/siphone in hospital tank as main tank. many diseases are not readily apparent after a few days or even a few weeks. better to be safe than sorry and lose other fish

You could do like a quick bath in the bag while acclimating with methylene blue or something (don't get it in your display tank, and it really won't cure anything) but quarantine is by far the best option. If you can't quarantine, observe the fish and tankmates closely for a couple weeks.

use soap and water. remember to get behind the ears. they normally tend to float upside down after this washing session, but dont worry, theyre just kickin' back and relaxing because of how clean and happy they are
