My 150 gallon has an eheim 2250 canister filter as main filter. I also have 2 sponge filters . Yestderday i washed all the media in tank water it took me about an hour to clean my tank i had the ceramic rings in a pail of tank water for about an hour. Should i be expecting ammonia spike? Or should there he no problem? Its really hard yo clean canister filters :(

As long as you used tank water, or water treated for chlorine, you should be fine. I did the same thing yesterday in one of my tanks. In fact I have done it so many times over the years I have lost count, and have never had a problem.

I always rinse my filter media when I clean the filter, but I always do it as gently as possible. I've never had an issue, but then again my tap water isn't that bad. Be careful to make sure your tap water is healthful and not infested with chemicals.

I cleaned my FX5 the other day, the media sat for about 45mins after getting washed (in tank water) and I didn't have an ammonia spike.
