Hey all,

I know soap is bad, but what do you guys use to wash your hands before dipping it in your tank? When I do water changes, I put my hands in the water and sometimes when I feed.

I used to use really hot water, but i dont know if there any effect on doing that.

Thanks,

Vinegar is said to neutralize a lot of soapy residue. I've used it daily for years with no trouble. I keep it in a spray bottle and squirt my hands and arms, rub it in a bit and rinse/scrub under the hottest water I can.

Well, if i don't have lotion on or any product like that and i know my hands are clean i just put them in there, but if i have to was them i just use soap, and try to get it all off with hot water and dry them good thats all, but thats just what I do, i don't think it has any effect on the fish if you wash it all off.....right?

I just rinse my hands in normal water(normal temp), then dry... that's it. Never had any problems.

Even if you had a tiny bit of soap on your hand (don't - just rinse them and dry properly) think of the dilution it would undergo in a huge tank. Just be careful.

I work with lots of oil thats both dirty and clean I'm not sure whats worse... The oil thats so caked my hands are stained in spots, the degreaser in attempts to get what I can of the oil off or the soap in attempts to get the degreaser off.

Normally if I'm doing too much mucking around in the tank I take a shower and then get in the fish tank. Either way I still worry about it but nobodys died yet.
