i think you will only ever understand when you have owned them, i wanted some before and as i got abit of a collection together and they had a few months to settle they come out of their shell they start to become like no other. My friend used to watch mine and then he got a pair of monos and by chance at the same time i had a leaking tank so he took 3 ocell from me to look after so 5 cichla and he got so excited he nearly wet his pants the other day when they all settled in and started feeding completely amazed that they snatched all the food before his arowana got to any LOL thats cichla for you
