If you have a fish in with a P-bass you have probably already accepted it may become food. Mine are cheap dates the worst thing they have eaten is my Senegal , which sucked but it was only 10 dollars

Even today mine at 5-8" are still working on escaping everytime my 13" Gar catches one!! Usually on accident now.. He went to snatch a piece of brine when my 5" P went for the same piece.. Ya 15 seconds of being dragged around the tank then the Gar released him :O
