i have been checking my pH for a while and its a constant 7.4. I have been wanting to lower to a 7.0 or a 7.1, but whatever i do, it still remains at 7.4. i have done many water changes. sum one told me to add salt...it doesn't work, i tried a full water change.......doesn't work, tried many different chemicals.........doesn't work. so if anybody can tell that im doing anything wrong and any way i can lower my pH, i will appreciate it. i do 20%-30% water change every Sunday. and every 5 months i do a full 100% water change. i do this to both of my 30g and 70g tanks.

What is the ph of your tap water?

You should never do 100% water change.. that is totally wrong for the health of your fish.. thats like putting them into a tank that has never cycled.. please forget this method, the other water changes sound okay.

What are you trying to change it for? I would recommend leaving it if it is at a constant...

your doing fine.. just go with the flow and your fish will thrive.. chemicals are not the answer .. better to be close in PH then to mess around with it.. :D

You could use peat moss, but where you are should be fine for almost anything.
