hi everyone. i just wanted to start a topic about wat people feed their flowerhorn and how their fish is doing with the food.

i feed my flowerhorn ChingMix SP80 headbooster and Maxima, GrandSumo original, Hikari Gold, and Rosy Red Minnows as a treat only 1 a day. the pellets are making him look really good and feeding him the minnows are making him more aggressive. dont worry about the minnows that i feed him. i buy them and quarantine for a weak before i give them to him. i also treat them with medicine so that they are in good health. now wat are u feeding ur fish? :grinno:

Mostly cichlid bio gold, cichlid gold sometimes and krill/fresh shrimp as treat

I feed mine all of the Chings mixed up 1 day, next day a mixture of Kens / Bio Gold / Gold / Staple / Azoo Color Enhancer, I fast them every 5th day and usuall the day before they fast I feed them Krill or fresh shrimp.

Mine eats just about anything you chuck into the tank. Any type of pellets/food sticks/mealworms/market prawns/veggies/flies the list goes on. I like to give him a lil variety and the colors and pearls are coming out nicely. I'm a sucker for fish that beg for food rather than fussy eaters.

mine eat all sinking egg, earthworm, spirulina, growth, color and cichlid pellets all mixed into one from kensfish.com with some floating cichlid pellets from OSI. she also gets freshwater shrimp and live ghost shrimp from time to time.

fish is nicely colored, active and growing fast as can be on this mix.

me too. I feed the little ones blood worms too.

1st the best thing is variation. When it comes to high quality foods, it depends on your fish. My fish love Chingmix SP100 and I have had outstanding results. However Chingmix SP80 was horrible in my opinion as my fish would only consume it if they were starved. I dont know anything about Grand Sumo. I have also used Ocean Free products and also like the results. I do prefer Ching though. These high quality foods should be used as suppliments. They should still have a staple to go along with these specialty foods. I prefer/use Hiakari Bio Gold and New Life Spectrum. Be sure to treat your fish every now and then. (Blood Worms, Frozen Brine with Spurilla, Cichlid Delight, Krill)

Heres a sample feeding schedule:

Morning ChingMix Headbooster (small amount)
Lunch Hiakrai BG or NLS decent size portion
Night ChingMix Maxima

Monday BloodWorm
Wednesday BS/W
Friday Krill

Sat and Sun Hikari Saki Premium Koi Pellet (small amounts mixed with pellets)

musha knows what hes talking about chingmix is the best food out there for flowerhorns.

PS you still look like waldo from family matters to me hahahaha
