my thoughts on the matter:
you absolutely cannot judge all Mexican people based on the actions of a few. there are "good" and "bad" people in all races and cultures. that being said, I do think something needs to be done about illegal immigration from all sides, not just Mexico. I have no problem with the people trying to get here to make a better life for themselves, but with our Gov. which lets them in by the thousands every day. there simply is only so much room in this country and so much growth to allow so many jobs. the more jobs go to illegal aliens the less jobs for legal US citizens. also, the more illegal aliens we have employed here the less people we have paying taxes to the government. most illegal aliens pay little to no taxes because they are illegal. guess who pays the difference there...we legal citizens who do pay taxes.
homelessness and unemployment are bad enough now...the more aliens that enter the country illegally the more homelessness and unemployment will increase. like I said there are only so many jobs to go around so what's going to happen to all the legal citizens as more and more illegal immigrants come into the country.
I'm not saying that we should close the borders or anything drastic like that. however there has to be a limit. anything done in excess is not good. moderation is the key. we can let in as many as our land and our economy can accomodate.
oh, and if all the illegal aliens were suddenly deported, then those jobs would get filled. like I said, there are a lot of legal citizens who are homeless and unemployed. there will be people out there to take the jobs. the only thing that might happen is that employers hay have to start increasing their wages. then of course prices would go up but if wages go up then to some extent it would average out.
either way something needs to be done. it doesn't sit well with me that between 25% to 30% of my paycheck is withheld for taxes while people who snuck into the country don't have to worry about that. I know a lot of them come for a better life, but the sad fact is that we can't help out everyone. there are only so many resources and so much room in this country. also, for as many illegal immigrants who are only here to make a better life for themselves and their families, there are probably just as many who are here to take advantage of the system, and even worse to come here with drugs they purchased cheaply back home and snuck over the border to sell here for a hefty profit. again, I'm not stereotyping anyone....there are good and bad within all races and cultures. but good or bad we have to have some limit on how many people can be let into the country.
