Hi all, I've had my RD three weeks now and he has settled in well. I've not had any problems with aggresion towards tank mates (they have all come to terms that he is boss). Water changes on the other hand have become somewhat of a battle, As soon as the gravel vac touches the water he goes nuts:screwy: ramming the tube flaring at me, my scrubber that i use to clean the glass with has chunks missing from it and if i put my hand in the tank he's on it straight away:irked:. Does anyone else have this problem? If so what do you do to get around it, i'm not keen on netting him every time i do a PWC.

Divider. Or....man up.....Monsters are monsters. Besides the bite does not hurt. The fish that make me weary are bichirs, and jags, and breeding cons, dovii, and and my parrots. The parrot bite hurts the most...lol

It's not biggy both my Midas get me when I clean their tanks. You wanna talk about hurt stick your hand in a Black Nasty Tank. I had I bruise on my arm for about a week and a ring of teeth marks. My BN is just one crazy ass fish. My jag just attacks the tube but the barred midas goes all out trying to get me. My other 13" Midas mostly hits me and if I near his cave he bites and twists. In ored to get him of I got to shake my armand pull forward real fast.

Thanks for the replies, I'm not worried about my hand but the glass cleaner is a pain LOL

Seriously, its what were all about man :D I bet once in awhile your immediate reaction is frustration that you just wanna get the WC done or w/e you're doing.

But I bet half the time you think about how awesome it is keeping such an aggressive little guy :D

Get a mag float.....

Buy a pro scraper so there's no padding to be torn off ( i've been through 5 a year of those padded ones) and if it's necessary use a huge net (10"+) to hold him off on one side of the tank.
I've just got to say if it's just the siphon tube and the algae pad, you've just
got a baby on your hands.:naughty: Wait till he's full grown. You'll not have an unmarked spot of skin on your hands.:grinno:

Buy your self a mag float glass cleaner. He'll still chase it but you can clean the glass faster than he could swim. My 10" texas does the same thing.
