If you decide to use Seachem Safe, the current instructions for 1/4 per 300 gallons is for 1ppm chloramine/ 1.25ppm chlorine in your tap water. Prior to 2014, the old instructionsm state to use 1 teaspoon per 200 gallons treated for up to 4ppm chloramines / 5ppm chlorine. If you know the max dosage of chlorine/chloramine in your tap water, you can adjust the full dosage amount for your tank volume (eg. if your tap is treated with 1ppm chloramine, 1/4 teaspoon for 250g is all that is needed. If your tap is treated with 4ppm chloramine, then you need 1.5 teaspoons for 250g).
