when you do a water change, are you supossed to mix up the gravel so that you can get rid of the waste and stuff that is left in there? and i have 1 Electric Blue Ahli, 1 JD, 1 White Assorted African, 1 Pleco, and 1 Minnow type thing that doesn't appear to be a minnow since it is more agressive then all of my other fish. how often and how much water changes should i be doing? currently i am doing weekly 25% water changes. is that too little for the fish i have?

What size is the tank? I do 50% every other day minimum and I have 15 tanks, and no python just 2 hoses and a 32 gallon trash can on wheels for fish only....

Holy crap, when do you have time for a life?

Don't know what size tank you have, but I would say it would be a good idea to step it up a bit. Try doing two WC's a week. 25% isn't bad, but I'd do it twice a week.

25% is pretty much about right if you dont overfeed and i've only ever meet one fish keeper that didnt overfeed. What size of tank you got and what sort of filtration you using?? I do 3 33% w/c's a a week on my 125 because my tank is overstocked and I overfeed, that and it give me something to do........... lol

Did not include the tank size 29 gallons.;)

WC's are best when using a gravel vac. You dont have to go crazy, but the substrate is where all the fish poo and ammonia collect. Whatever doesnt get cleaned by the filter ends up near or in the gravel. So it is best to clean the substrate and lower part of the tank, you dont want to take water off the top of the tank during a WC because you will be leaving all the waste at the bottom.
at the very least, stir up the gravel and cloud the water, then do the WC. Pythons are worth their price.
