Due to my large bio-load I do a water change every other day it gets old fast. So instead of getting a piece of tubing out every time and sucking on it to stand there and hold it well it drains I came up with a plan. $12 in parts at the hard wear store and here it is my always primed water changer. I know this has been done but I wanted to share my variation of it.

1 piece of 1/2inch PVC
2 90degree elbows
1 45 degree elbow
1 ½ inch ball valve

Neat. If you have a crawlspace you can plumb that into your wasteline. Or You could continue it into the crawlspace and take the water all the way outside.

its smart and convenient! but not very pulchritudinous

I had to look it up as well;)

Pulchritudinous - used of persons only; having great physical beauty

Nice BTW

HD and Lowes both have fittings that will adapt that for a garden hose. I use more portable versions and prime them with a water bed pump.

it means its not appealing to the eye, but that's beside the point of its purpose; i still think its a great idea.

Thats not 1/2'' pvc. 1/2'' is about as big as a mans thumb in diameter. So if thats 1/2'' that must be a 1 gallon bucket:grinno:

i had this idea and made it like 4 years ago.

good thinking for me. its so fast compared to the tubing.

That is a nice set up!

Though, mine competes! Hose direct to the kitchen sink and another to a tap for direct water with temperature control.

(Water here is very clean and with little containments so I have had no problems feeding it directly into the tank)
