I changed the water in my fish tank and cleaned the foam on my Fluval 404. When I plugged the filter back in...it sounded like it was priming. I decided to check out MKF for about 30 minutes. I come to check on the aquariuma nd the filter still wasn't working! My Adonis didn't make it  And my Aro's eyes are kind of cloudy. I need help. Any suggestions?

Sorry for your loss...

Do I understand this right? You lost a fish with the filter off for only thirty minutes?

I don't have a bubbler. My filter circulates my water and that's how the majority of the oxyen gets to my fish. Plus I think with the stress of the water change, temperature change, and lack of filtration...you know.

Thats weird...

I wouldn't have thought it would happen in just 30 mins.

it maybe due to the lack of beneficial bacteria, high chlorine and abrupt drop in water temperature killed your fish. you should never clean your filter and change water and the same time. I believe that you've changed more than 50% of your aquarium water.

if you have any other aquarium or lfs near by, then you may transfer some of the water on your aquarium and also borrow some used filter media and dump it into your canister to help it cycle more faster. :)

but still

how can you lose a fish 30 minutes after a water change with nothing on????

my fish have gone twice that without even being phased.
