how often do you guys do water changes if all of younumbers are coming back 0-0-0. This is the first tank I have had with massive amounts of filtration and my numbers are just staying great.

in a up and running cycled tank no one should be coming back with all zeros lol. i do a wc once or twice a week. from anywhere from 25-30% a time. some people do more some less. also depends on stock, filtration, and size.

Should show some nitrate unless you have plants in the system. How long has the system been running. I would do atleast once a week as a minimum and definetly more if need be. I do 3 40% in one and 1-2 40% in another.

I went and bought another test kit the other day and it might not be zero but its darn close and I guess I should add that I put some super alge stop in a few weeks ago. On the bottle it claims it lowers nitrates and nitirtes and extends water changes. I guess I will go ahead and keep up with weekly water changes then.

I started using the alge stop because I have well water and trying to control algein my other tanks is a mother #$##$ as well as in my pool. I don't want this problem in my acrylic tank as it will be harder to clean it off the front if it starts.

check for phosphates in the well water. happened to me a couple of years ago. phosphates went through the roof after a couple of months of non stop rain. changed the ground water levels.

What test kit are you using? I was using API master test kit, and I wasn't shaking the bottle and test vial hard enough for nitrates. I always thought I was getting zero until my friend showed me. You really got to shake the hell out of it.

Tru dat. The NitrAte test takes a lot more work than the others to do it correctly.

Curious how nitrAte can be reduced by a product in a bottle - sounds like an improbable claim.

I dont have problems getting readings in my other tanks fellas, so I'm pretty sure I am doing the test right
