Hello and sorry for creating a thread just on this..I figured I get an quicker response.

Im doing the old bucket trick when it comes to water changes on my tanks (120 and 55 gallon). I only do about a 30% change weekly.

What id like to know from those of you who use a hose and city water is...Do you gradually add de-chlorinator as the water is filling back into the tank? I would think as soon as the chlorinated water entered the tank it would kill the benficial bacteria and also, possibly harm the fish. Can somebody give me some advice here as I would like to stop the bucket routine. :nilly:

thanks

I've always gradually added Prime as I fill up my tanks. I've never had a problem doing it that way.

Thanks. I didnt think there would be a problem but I didnt want to take a chance.

I do it as well, adding half my dechlorinater when I start filling and the second half at the finish. I also make sure to get a hose that's drinking safe so it won't be leaching chems into the water.
