It's time for a water change (every other week) but my convict just laid some eggs. Is it best to wait till the fry hatch or better to do before they hatch?

Thanks as always you wonderful people of MFK.

I would just do a regular water change. As long as you temperature-match the water, and the pH is close (no more difference than .4) then you'll be fine. That's probably going to be the most difficult, though, since you don't do water changes that often.

I would do small water changes so the temperature doesn't have a dramatic swing. Something like 10% every other day would be fine.

I disagree, 10% every other day isn't going to accomplish much other than spook the parents.

As mentioned by Laticuada, as long as the pH of the tap water is within .4 or .5 of what you keep the aquarium, do a regular water change.

I would recommend doing this with the aquarium lights off and don't vac the gravel much, try to be as least invasive as you can be, if the parents get spooked they could eat the eggs.

If they do eat the eggs, they are convicts, they will spawn again :)

Thanks for the comments. Did a regular water change and all is well. Only mama tending to the eggs, got big poppa with his mistress, hopefully the mistress will drop some eggs as well.
