Should I be doing water changes with my oscar, and how much?

It depends on your filtration but yes you should do a Water Change every week.

YES!!!!!!

Every tank needs the water changed. Regularly.

You also need to have a much larger tank in the VERY NEAR future.

The oscar is a big dirty fish, the 30 gallon is a little on the small side as tank sizes go. You should be doing at least 50% weekly water changes. If your oscar is small, then that can be reduced.

Best way to tell is test your nitrates, adjust your water changes to keep nitrates in the 20ppm range.

hes small and hes temporary in that tank till he gets bigger, how much water do i need to empty and refill, and can i put purified water in? or stick to tap water, and if i put tap water in do i have to use the water cleaner everytime?

At leat 50% a week more as he grows.Oscars are fun enjoyable good looking fish that get big fast so start saving for that 70g tank now lol

Doont use the purified water use tap water and yes treat with a dechlorinater every time
