Do you guys think changing 20g out of a 75g on a daily basis would be good or bad? The water source is close by so it's not a hassle. FH by himself.

I wouldn't say it would be bad, but why would you want to do it daily?

Poo comes with a fish tank!!! You can clean the bottom of the tank everyday if you would like I guess.

I read that the larger and more often you do water changes, the faster your fish grow. but i read this in TFH in the 'ask jack' . what he did was put discus in a small container and did a 100 percent water change mutiple times per day, and to compare he put other discus in a tank ten times the size of the small one, but only changed like 20 percent every week...... a fews months later the discus in the smaller tank were more than twice the size of the others.... all fish were on the same diet and the water was all the also. the filtering was different though... in the small tank he used only a sponge filter and in the large tank i think he used a canister....anyway, i also do large frequent water changes and my fish also seem to be healthier, bigger and have more of an appetite. i say large and frequent water changes are better than the "normal" water changes.

I dont see the point in daily water changes unless you are having water quality issues. I do huge weekly changes 60%-70% on all my tanks. My fish are growing like weeds and have great appetites.

Maybe we found a guy who actually likes water changes? I'll let you clean mine for free;)

I am also one that doesnt ming "fussing" with the tank. I dont see it as work. If i did then i wouldnt own a tank at all. its all personal preferance i think. but doing it daily has no negative effects. think of where most of the fish we keep come from...mostley rivers,steams,dranages,ect.. the water in these areas are constanly flowing and doing 100% water changes every second(something like that) plus dont we try to simulate their natural enviroment as much as possible? we can do it somewhat in diet, but to simulate a river or lake or stream, wouldnt water changes daily be close?? thats my stand point on it, and probely only shared by few. hopefully any new hobbiests reading this thread grasps the importants of water changes. as for doing it weekly or daily, I think daily would out-weigh weekly, but not too many people like to do it, and put it off until their tests indicate a change is needed...

The only downside I can really see is if you had a fish that was unusually stressed out by the w/c process...then it might make sense to do larger w/c twice a week rather than smaller ones daily. I don't expect a FH to have that problem though.
