I have a very hi-bioload in my tank.. There is a 20" arowana in the tank... I wonder whats the max % and frequency I can do on w/c

Thanks

what size tank? what kind of filtration? what other fish?

i've got a 180, had a large silver aro, a large tiger shovelnose, a large green terror, a large malawi trout, and a good sized pleco. i run 2 aquaclear 500 power filters with chemi-pure, two small powerheads in the middle, 2 aquaclear 900 powerheads (one on each end). figured i turn the complete tank water over about every 3 to 4 minutes. i found once every 4 to six weeks worked for me.. i always kinda go for overkill on filtration...now have just the aro and pleco so the bioload is not as bad....

OT45 did you ever test for nitrates? What level nitrates did you have only changing every 4-6 weeks?

Definatly test the water regularly to establish a baseline reading to judge all of this on. The main reason for doing water changes at all is to remove built up nitrates in the water. Just what nitrate levels you have and how quickly they accumulate is what you need to set your water change schedule on...NOT 'some dudes on MFK said...'

well.. i feed a lot.. and the ammonia is always at 0.5 or so.. and there is bubbles on the surface.. (i have stated on other thread)

I am going to try every other day on smaller %.. i just dont know if this would stress out my arowana

thanks

I know my aro hates water changes with a passion and I do them every other week.
