First I hook up a piece of tubing to a DIY adapter on our utility sink (after I took the picture I realized how dirty it is!).

Next I stick the other end of the tubing into a larger tube that goes to the sump in the crawlspace.

I turn on the sink, mixing the water to about 77 degrees.

That's it. The rest happens automatically down in the crawlspace, I took some pictures last time I was down there doing maintenance.

The water comes in at the back of the sump.

The overflow is in the front of the sump.

There is a float-valve operated sump pump in the blue bucket in front of the tank.

The water is ejected into the drain pipe and into our septic system.

Just thought I would share. :D

I am on well water, no dechlorinator for me!

I guess I did forget to show the tank, I got to focused on just the water-change aspect. :screwy:

Here's a few:

Water is pumped (Iwaki MD70RLT) through a one inch piece of braided acrylic. Building the cabinet door access panels was one of the smartest things I've ever done - easy access and it looks good, too! :D

I have four one inch bulkheads on the tank, three are overflows and the fourth is for the return.

Nice, I never knew you kept goldfish! Lets get more pics of the tank. Love the contrast in colors!

Yep, I've kept at least a few Goldfish since I was nine years old! I really do enjoy their colorful chunkiness. :D

Here's a few more shots:

Do you wonder how much "fresh" water is lost by pouring into the sump while it is draining as well? Just curious.

Cool idea though for sure.

Nice tank Dan, POTM quality....

but he only comes out at night!
