it has been about 1 or 2 weeks with my new tank. i currently have a few tiger barbs and a red belly and a few small goldfish. i want to change the water. about 25%, but i do not have a pump or anything.

What can i use to do a water change and what kind of water do i put in to replace the old?

i have a 16oz bottle of Multi Purpose water conditioner from Big Als. would i have to drop some into the water which im goign to be replacing the 25% with? or do i replace the water and THEN put in the drops?

Thanks, and any advice on water changes on a pretty new tank would also be great.

i'm assuming your tanks not very big so it is feasable to use a lrge plastic bowl to scoop out the water put into a bucket as for replacing it is important to have the water within a couple of degrees put your declorinator and chloramine remover in the bucket and add to th e water most use about 5 ml per 10 gal put in enough for the entire volume of the tank not just the amount you are changing make sure that is the correct product you have obtained leave the filter alone for acouple more weeks let it ebstablish and when its time rinse with the old tank water and replace should be done monthly good luck

A big pail and a siphon hose should set you up. :) With the bucket method, you wont be able to scoop out most of the fish poop.

Any length of hose that will reach from mid depth in your tank, out over the edge and down to the floor will enable you to syphon the water out to a bucket, or as I do, straight out the door/window onto the garden.

Then either use a large bucket and multiple carries between the tap and your tank to fill it back up, or buy a length of hose that will reach from a tap to your tank.

I syphon the water out onto the garden and then use the same hose(hose made for drinking or potable water) to connect to a tap in my kitchen to fill the tank back up again, I put dechlor straight into the tank into the stream of water that is filling it up so it disperses quickly.

does a gravel vac require an outlet for power? and how many times would i need to pump in order to get like 15 gallons out?

A gravel vac is a tube with a hose wich attachs to your sink faucet with an adapter uses water pressure to drain if u have a 50g only save yourself the coin and find a square bucket and scoop away you only need to remove 30 percent max weekly itll take as long as it would to set up the vac remember if youre scooping to rake the gravel before hand to get the waste that has settled

which one is easier and more convenient on my part? the money wont be much of an issue because i'll be raking in $6,000 a month soon. :D
