Hello

Everybody, just setup a new tank I have 2 Danios in and the tank is a week old so still going through the cycling the tank is 20 gallon I am new but I am carrying my pond knowledge to the fish tank hopefully there is not much difference as they still have to go through the same maintenance and NItrgoen Cycle. My question is that doing water changes in a pond does not cause any harm as it is cold water but how do I do a water change with cold tap water to an aquarium without effecting the temperature of the tank is it best to leave water overnight and add just a bit at a time also water will be conditioned.

My filter is an eheim 2233 which I am hoping I can use it in my 40 gallon tank eventually.

Thankyou

Hello

Must admit I did think there was some bad stuff in hot water tap unless it was boiled but saying that should have realised that is what the tap conditioner is for anyway thankyou for an answer to an obvious question.

I always just use the coldwater. Sometimes people have issues when you using water from the hotwater tank because that water may carry more dissolved metals.

If ur worried about temp buy an ir cooking thermo and take temp of tank then tap and match.

Or do smaller wc more frequently so it doesnt change the temp too much.

Or use a 5gal bucket and let the water sit for a few hours

Or do what i do and use a 5gal bucket with 1/4" tubing to drain the new water in the tank slowly like a drip!

I monitor my water temp...I can't easily mix hot water these days so my WCs are getting bigger now that the weather is warmer.
