Hey MFK,
So recently I replaced my water softner in my house. There was enough GH getting by as my old softner let some through at about 5 degrees.
I never even thought about it with my new softner. I have had my fish in water with 0 Gh for the last few months. I just put in a bypass value and I am wondering what the best way to start adding gh back into the water for my fish.
During a water change, I will probably have to switch periodically between softened water and my well water due to the species that I keep not appreciating how hard my water naturally is.
Is this OK to do? My well water is about 16 degrees, and I'd like to keep my tank at 4 degrees. So if I just add a 1/4 of the tank volume at the end of the well water, it'll mix and bring the gh level to my desired 4.
Any advice here?
