i have a rena xp4 , bottom has 4 layers of sponge, middle 2 layers is biomax, top layer is biozorb and fine pad. the actual measured output of this filter is 820lph, i actually measured this.

my tank is a juwel vision 260 which hold 260l but is likely 200l once you consider rocks and gravel, this is giving my tank water a 4 times turnover per hour

i have an overstocked african cichlid set up mostly mbuna

i have 2 powerheads which are producing 2300lph between them but i am only using them to move water

do i need more mechanical filteration, all my water levels are fine so my xp4 is keeping the water good however is a 4 times fwater filtering turnover enough as long as i have loads of water movement with my 2 powerheads.

i know i can add the filter attachments to my powerheads but im trying to avoid it to minimize the amount of equipemnt in the tank.

hey Ron, as long as you don't have too much junk floating in the water then your mechanical filtration is fine, just keep an eye on nitrates after it fully cycles
