Been in the hobby along time, never had this issue. My tanks have always been crystal clear and my fish very healthy. For some reason I'm having difficulty keeping the water clear in my 120g. There is a constant haze and green hue to the water, even after 50% water changes. Some additional information, I do water changes once a week, not a planted tank, light is on for about 10 hours per day, I feed Omega One Cichlid Flakes in the morning and Frozen Brine Shrimp or Blood worms in the evening. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Ime, and I’m not saying this is your issue, I’m just saying this was my issue when I noticed my tank water was cloudy.

the filter was too small for the tank bioload.

The filter flow was slowed down due to blockage and caused some of the bn to die which in turn clouded my tank water.

not enough flow.

omce I fixed either of those problems the water would clear in a day or so.

Reduce bio load by just feeding once a day, skipping feeding is also good

Not had such issue as well. May be some aquatic plants or something like pothos would be useful as it will soak some nutrients from water and compete with algae.

Two things....why do you have the tank lights on all that time and what kind of Mopar do you have?

It’s not the lights, I have a 16 hour reef light cycle and my tanks crystal clear. I’d add another canister filter or AquaClear 110 as a HOB for increased water flow and limit your feeding drastically. If I had to guess, the algea is feeding off excess nutrients in the water! I only see one small cichlid in that tank so you don’t have a large bio load in terms of stock. I’d also clean the squeeze the filter pads a few times when you do a water change, the gravel could be giving off some excess cloudiness that hasn’t ever subsided.

I had what looked like an algae bloom (not saying you have the same problem, but I'm guessing algae/bacteria) out of the blue in my 90. A little bit of flocculent along with a liter cutoff water bottle on a powerhead (stuffed the open bottom of the bottle with poly floss) took care of the problem overnight. Haven't had the problem reoccur.

Ghage Ghage did you switch out the water conditioner lately? Particularly to seachem safe? I noticed that after some water changes lately mine shows haze for few hours then clears up when never had that issue with cycled tanks on prime
