i currently have 4 tanks, a 55g, 20g, 10g, and 150g. all of the smaller tanks have crystal clear water. never once a problem. but my 150 i can never get crystal clear. i have 2 canisters, cascade 1500 and rena filstar xp3. i figure that would be enough filtration but the tank always has some cloudiness. also, i just recently had an algae bloom so i am recovering from that. current stock 12" florida gar, 5" severum, 6" convict, 6" JD, 4" kissing gourami, 4" pictus, 7" pleco. usual WC schedule is 1-2 30% weekly. use seachem prime as conditioner any advice on how to clear this up? temp at 82, pH-7.2 ammonia-0 nitrites and nitrates will be posted tomorrow

i think feeding the gar is part of the problem. sometimes he does not eat all of the tilapia i put in there right away. it may take him up to an hour to eat it all so would that cause cloudiness?

The gar is a pretty big and not so clean fish. Try larger water changes and add more bio media

i agree larger water changes, would help alot 20-30% is not enough when you have large fish,or add to your filtration.

I believe in your case it's lack of waterchanged and bio media. No need to use a uv right away. Also, how long has this tank been running

right about 7 months

the cascade came with strictly sponges and carbon so bio media is a must for that filter. the xp3 does have a tray with bio media but the more the better right? which kind would you recommend?
