I am starting a new 300-gallon SW tank. I have the ability to make my own R/O and de-ionized water. Right now I'm just filling it with R/O. Should I use some of both? If so, at what ratio? Also, do I have to add anything to either to make up for minerals that were lost through the processing? I just use R/O water for my other 2 SW tanks. I use a R/O and de-ionized combo for my FW tanks.

RO and Di are basically the same thing (quality wise) but it's just that RO is more availible to aquarist who buy their water. i personlly would use whichever you can make more of.

Tap water tends to be very VERY high in phosphates. i use RO/DI water in my SW and since switching have noticed a HUGE difference in both fish and my corals. i add coral-vite every other water change and iodine, strontium, molybdenum and the like about once a month. a lot of the minerals and stuff remain in the water even after RO/DI so its no biggie.
