I recently bought a new brand of water conditioner, Big als has their own brand(says multi purpose water conditioner) so I picked a bottle a few days ago because they had it on sale, and we all like to save a few bucks, so I tried it. I did a waterchange today and used it for the first time. Problem is after about a hour or two after the waterchange, everything in my tank is coverd in a white milky substance. I followed the directions on the bottle correctly. My fish all seem fine and happy as usual but my tank looks discusting now because of this white film, iv never encounted this issue with any other brand before. Does anyone have any idea why this happend? Or what this white film might be? Its easily cleanable but once wiped off the glass it clouds the water. Any suggestions are welcome, but now I have to go out to the lfs again tomorrow to pick up my usual water conditioner. Has anyone expirenced this issue before?

I did years ago, but I don't know if it is the same situation you are having. I did my water change as usual, with my usual conditioner, and by the next morning (water change was in the evening) there was a white film on my glass and the tank smelled like sulphur too. I wiped everything clean and went to a LFS and bought some RO water and changed out 90%. It cleared up after that, but the LFS said it was related to how the city had shocked the water that week and they couldn't keep much RO in stock. The rest of the summer was like that, until we had some rain, and I haven't had issues since (knock on tank).

Nowthat you mention it, I guess it could have something to do with the actual water supply. All the snow finally melted in myarea and thepast 2 days have been 10+ degrees celcious, so it could be possible that the town has added something to the water supply.

Why does keep happening? No issues with any other brand of water conditioner iv used, but every time I use big als water conditioner my glass gets a white film covering it withen a hour or twothis is really starting to annoy me. Anyone know whats causing this?

a few years back I also thought I'd save a few bucks and get big als conditioner. same thing happened to me. not sure why, but I went right back to my old conditioner and everything was fine again. hmph.
