Water Conditioner has a Terrible Smell

As it says, my Seachem Water Conditioner is smelling TERRIBLE. Like sulphur, but a sharper smell than sulphur. I honestly don't know how to describe it. Does it affect the fish?

Haven’t seen any effects where I’ve used it, but it does smell quite bad.

Ok. Thanks guys. Just wanted to make sure it was fine. It used to not smell bad for a few months, but I guess it is now getting to the smell bad faze.

The active ingredient (part) of most water conditioners that neutralizes chlorine/chloramine is sodium thiosulfate (a sulphur based compound).
If it didn't smell like that, it wouldn't work.

Some bottles of prime, or after a certain period of time, give off an extreme smell of sulfur. Worried me too at first but it’s fine and still effective per seachem

That is in fact, sulfur. That’s the business end of the molecule that reacts with the chloramine to detoxify it. It’s your friend.

Have had some bottles smell and others not give off that smell. I use both safe and prime. Safe is way worse.
