Water conditioner?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If they water that you are putting back in the tank contains chlorine or chloramines then yes 100%. The chlorine and chloramines are placed in the tap water to kill off any bacteria that may grow in the tap water. And they will also kill your tank biological bacteria.

Chlorine is a gas and can dissipate if left in a bucket overnight but if the water company has added chloramine as well, then you are left with one option, water conditioners. Make sure the water conditioners you get should bind both, not just chlorine.

Naturally chlorine is a gas. But it is in liquid form when we get it in the tap water. And leaving it in a bucket over night may or may not get rid of it. People keep swimming pools and add chlorine to them every now and then cause only some of it will gas out. It matters how much chlorine content is in this persons tap water source. Since we do not know what the ppm of chlorine present in the tap water in this case, It is bad info to tell someone that leaving it out over night will take care of it.

yes it is needed if you have chlorine of chlorimines...

most water conditioners have extra benefits too, such as chelating any heavy metals that happen to be in your tap water therefore neutralizing them.

Just buy some Prime(great water conditioner). Usually 7.99 at Petsmart(8 oz. bottle), and does 2500 gallons.

I believe the chlorine from 5 gallons, and he mentioned a bucket, would disipate overnight. There is an enormous difference between a pool and a bucket, would you agree with that?

there is alot less chlorine inside your tap water than what you put in your pool... major difference here....
