Okay so i have a 55 gal. How do i add water conditioner before the water gets in the tank? im seriously over mixing the conditioner in a bucket and pouring it in. I know its unsafe to water-hose the water in, then add conditioner afterward. Should i just siphon the 25-30% water out, add the conditioner to treat the whole 55 gallons, then add the tap water? is that safe? if not, i need some suggestions please!!!

What you can do is add conditioner in the bucket of clean water. Just measure it. But, if the measurements are too bigt for the amount of water, then just add all the conditioner in the tank beforehand. Then jsut add tap water. Make sure to add the right measurements for all the new tap water added.

Just always add conditioner 1st, before adding the water.

Yep. Conditioner first. Never had a problem that way.

Still not good either before and especially after. (if you want an example of what you are doing, put a cap full of whole milk in that much water and see how long it takes to dissipate/mix to where you can't see it at all. That's quicker that the dechlor takes to neutralize all chlorine/chlorimines).

Best is still off line, Get a brute 35g garbage can, fill/treat/heat and a small pump, gravel vac the old water out, then pump the treated water back in. All you have are the hoses to pick up :headbang2.

Man I do it towards the middle of my water change..let me tell you I have a 150 and the conditioner is expensive for me..but never had a problem..

I always get the water temp just right (2 degrees over target) in the bath tub faucet then drop in 5 gallons worth of conditioner. Then Immediately fill the bucket up and wait for the temperature to drop (Usually around 20 minutes) Then I add it to the tank. I am OCD so maybe all the caution is not necessary but I have had great luck with this. In fact most of my MFK post's come from my downtime during water changes on my 4 tanks

Use the python to take water out, put in the Prime, fill back up. There simple as that. Never had anything happen, ever, so not going to change.

On smaller tanks I just use buckets. I use Prime so if I overdose a little who cares. You can safely overdose up to 4-5 times and I never overdose by that much.
