As with all products on the market, there's never just one of anything available. I went in to get some water conditioner for my aquariums, and I noticed that up until maybe six years ago I always bought the same brand and type of conditioner. I used to use AquaSafe, and that was only because it was the same type that had come with my first starter 55. I still have a bottle in my cabinet, just do not use it all that often. I use Kordons AmQuel plus now. I use this product now because it detoxifies so much junk that can be in the water. It helps me feel like the water will always be safe. I do carry out water changes of course, as well as test my tanks.
Since using AmQuel I have never had any water chemistry issues. With anything else though, something would always go wrong, if not immediately a week or month down the road.

My question is, does anybody else have a preferred conditioner to use, and why?

This thread is in the appropriate place, right? Health?

I have used AmQuel plus before and have been very pleased. Other than that I usually combine prime and stresscoat together just to be safe. And I always add a small amount of aquarium salt when I do water changes.

Dunno if thread is in right place ha ha, I assume it is though

i think youll find that most people use seachem Prime. one bottle will treat more gallons than any other brand out there, so it's cheaper in the long run.

Chloram-X powder goes a long way too.

I used to use all different combinations of water conditioners, but then many years ago a fellow fish keeper gave me the advice to try seachem prime.

14 years later, I am still using seachem prime it as my only water conditioner.
