Back in July 2019 a friend caught this one for me in a stream not far from my house on Isla Taboga.

It was @ 6 " back then.
Maybe because the tank is heavily planted, its colors have darken to match the surroundings. It also reacts to sunlight lightening or darkening according to time of day.

At first it only ate live shrimp, but has learned to accept chucks of fish, and is now pushing 12", and much bulkier.
It has never accepted pellets.

I feed once every two or 3 days.
Most of the time it stays hidden half buried in the sand or under a log. only making an appearance when hungry.

It shares a 180 gal with a shoal of other locally wild caught cichlids, and tetras, the other species will eat pellets, not the goby (could be the texture)
Depening on what it is hunting it can adapt a head down, or also a head pointing up position, and changes color pattern to camouflage itself with the type plants, such as valisneria.
