Is it really necessary to use dechlorinator every time I replace evaporated water only? I just started an open canopy fish tank a week ago and I have to add water every 2 days. I didn't want to keep putting in dechlorinator every other day if I don't have to.

Thanks!

Either use an RO system/well water or you can dechlorinate 5g jugs at a time and use them to re fill your tank. But yes you need to make sure you dechlorinate any water you put into your tank.

+1, you wanna get the impurities as much as possible when adding.

Agreed. The new water even if it was a gallon every 2 days or something like that will have chlorine and ammonia and whatever else in it. Dechlorinator is cheap so it shouldn't be a problem doing this at all.
