hello

i have had a few issues with ph in my tank. the water out the tap was great when i measured its ph before making a water change, but then the tank water went up by 0.5 the following day when i added it to the tank. apparently this has to do with co2 degassing, as i understand.

so i have been trying to find other sources of water, including mountain spring water and commercial mineral water. i let them stand overnight and as expected the ph rose, sometimes by even 0.8. all these water were KH 10+.

will the ph always rise in the tank if i add water (tap, spring, commercial) that has ph increases overnight, despite high KH in both tank and new water? is there anything to do to avoid this?

Thanks!

From my understanding if you let it sit before you add it to the tank you need to airate it. I do not use aged water but seems like the people on here that do. Put a air pump in it

Get a large trashcan or food-safe barrel, or tub to put your water in for your water change. Add Prime (or whatever dechlorinator you have) and an airstone/powerhead. Let it aerate for at least 24 hours before adding it to your tank.

I do this with my brackish water, and have a heater inside the tub, so the tank water + tub water are the same temperature, and I can just drain the tank, and add the new water.
