my pond right now is very puny at almost 400 gallons and im going to widen and deepen the pond and put some nice sand and river rock at the bottom and have some lilys and water lettace in it but i have a waterfall right now that puts ariation in the pond and i was thinking of puting a bigger one in but would it affect the lilies and water lettace? The pond when it is redun will be 5-6feet long and 41/2 feet wide and aproximatly 3-41/2 feet deep

keep us posted, Sounds cool. The lilies could be affected by fast moving water fall but the water lettuce should grow just about any where. Mine are like a weeds.

Nice, just keep the lilies at the opposite end. If they're not under the waterfall they'll be ok.

Plant them in pond baskets with gravel.

Lillies don't like water splashing on there leaves. Just place them opposite the falls and you will be good. The lettuce won't mind the fast moving water from the falls, just not it direct path of the falls. I second Joe and say put the lillies in pots of gravel, not sand. Sand in the pond, unless you plan on using a skimmer, might get in the pump causing premature wear. You can also direct plant the lillies in the pond. When you re-dig the pond, make depressions in the soil where you plan to have the plants. This pic. shows spots where we put plants prior underlayment/liner install. Once the liner is in, place the plants in the areas, backfill w/gravel. The roots of the plants will grow in all directions. Random Fish, landscape pics. 020.jpg
