so im gonna b filling my tank soon and im kinda wondering bout something. Since my fish r still kinda small i wanna start my tank with only half the water in it to make it easier for them to locate food. but when i start adding more water... i figured ill do that at water change time.. could i just add more watter slowly or would it be necesary to remove water first n then add more?

full water level will be better for the bioload and parameter stability. IMHO fill it all the way, the fish will find the food

Yeah unless your fish have down syndrome they shouldn't have a hard time finding food.

A neon tetra in a 30000gallon tank will find the food. Its their biz to find the food and business is booming

I agree with the others, start full. But to answer your question, it is a matter of lowering the nitrate levels, by adding more clean water you would be lowering the levels. If you test your water params you could best tell. Whichever method work just shoot for 20ppm on nitrate levels. You will still need to clean and gravel vac, so some water will have to be emoved.
