water flow and salt...

2 questions:
1. How much flow do you have running in your tank, ie if you are using powerheads or a return pump, what's the rating on them?
2. do you use salt in your tanks? I've heard conflicting opinions regarding the use of salt.

I turn my tank over 8-9 times an hour. I am a believer in oversized filters for rays. I have 260 gallons total in my one tank and am using a 2400 ghp pump with 3 1/2 feet of head on the pump. I had a 3400 gph pump but it kept my tank at 84 degrees with no heaters. I downsized pumps and now I can maintain 80 degrees on the nose.
