I was looking around and could not find much about water flow (powerheads) and oscars. I have a powerhead in the tank to provide extra flow and am just trying to figure out the best way to use it.

Do Os tend to like calm water or high current tanks?

You could hook it up to a sponge filter and have some extra filtration. You can never have too much of that with a oscar.

I personally have a powerhead rigged up to a sponge filter, and I agree it is a great way to add some filtration. Assuming the powerhead you are using is not crazily way too strong for your tank size, I'd say hook it up to a sponger filter as well. The extra current won't bother your oscars and it will add some crucial filtration.

I clean my sponge filter powerhead combo with my weekly waterchange in a 5 gallon bucket of tank water and it always turns the water almost black. The combo does a great job of catching particles in the water.

I point mine toward the bottom from about the middle to keep the turds dancing toward the filter intakes.
