This may sound silly but I'm new to the wet-dry setup and I'm trying to figure out what's the best setup to optimize inflow and outflow. I'm speaking specifically to what is actually in the tank, and not the sump itself. So for example, I have 2 drains going out at the ends of the tank into the sump, 1 input from the sump with a piece that sends the water flow in 2 different directions from the center. Additionally, I have 1 canister filter at each end of the tank (sorry tank is 8'x2'), and 1 small powerhead at each end of the tank. I have to replace the small powerheads as they keep stopping. I watched the pattern and it seemed like the flow back into the tank from the canisters interfered with the flow going out of the tank, so then I moved one of the flow things coming in from one of the canister to the middle, which made it even worse (as far as draining debris out). Is it best to have turbulent flow or should there be some kind of linear flow pattern (from in to out?). I'm just wondering is there a general rule of thumb? Am I over thinking it and will the water eventually all circulate out bc it seems like its just going in a circle mostly haha Thanks in advance. I'm trying to avoid busting out a full vector flow analysis....but I will if it comes down to it I guess:)
