hi there guys, i was running a fluval 205 on one of my tanks and i have noticed that the water flow was so weak... so i have cleaned it still the same, then replaced the media and impeller (used my back-up) still the same. now i can only think about the hose pipes which is the inlet and outlet pipes.. is this down to the pipes or what???

Hi I recently had a problem with water flow on a small pond pump,I shortened the inlet hose and it improved, Apparently the longer the inlet tube the greater the frictional loss.
However I noticed that the 205 has an aqua stop feature for maintenance maybe this is partly engaged, just a thought . :)

Most likely the hose pipes. They need to be cleaned every 6 months at the latest to maintain optimal flow rates

I had a lot of trouble with both my fluval canister and tetratec blocking and lacking flow. By the end they were just trickling out. As mentioned it is probably most likely the tubes are blocked, which is a real hassle as you have to disconnect the lot and clean out all the lines. Purchase a long piece of wire with a cleaning brush on the end that fits the tubes and push it through to clean them out. Since ditching my old canisters and moving to the fluval FX5, I also think they might of had problems with air getting into the system and reducing flow considerably.

i have the same problem but after cleaning my fliter starts out clean but it later slows down completly, the pipes are dirty, will clean them for sure and the media is also old, i bought it used. its a fluval 204. any other suggestions???
