Water enters from the top, goes thru a coarse filter pad, is channeled to the bottom, and rises up from there thru the media to the top.

A great filter for a 75 gal tank. Nothing bigger.

Really? I thought this was Eheim's BIG BOY.

Man, that is pricey for only being able to push a 75 gallon.

I guess it is FX5's for me.

I think he meant that there is no other filter bigger than the 2080.

Next one is the Fx5 which holds 5L of bio media compaired to the 12L for the Ehiem 2080.

2080 pump 450 GPH
Fx5 pumps 600 GPH

FX5 actually rates at 925 gph. The Eheim 2262 weighs in at 900 gph - and with 18L media capacity (3x bigger than FX5)
